Assistant Superintendent Drew Bordner presented the English Language Arts (ELA) Materials Review to the Curriculum Committee, reporting that staff conducted a curriculum review at Gull Lake Middle School (GLMS) and analyzed PSAT data to identify priorities in reading, writing and speaking with purpose. Staff have been evaluating current ELA resources to identify gaps the district plans to address through instructional-material selection.
The minutes record that professional development on the ELA review began in August and included a two-day curriculum session led by Tim Hejnal. Committee members were told the evaluation has included review of novels, writing rubrics and existing resources and that selection work will continue through Winter 2026.
