Town board approves multiple hires: water and wastewater trainees, maintainer appointment

The board approved a series of personnel actions in public works and utilities. The chair read several resolutions and members voted to appoint Philip Bennett as a water plant operator trainee and Joshua Pope as a wastewater plant operator trainee. The board also approved hiring Andy Lamphere as a water and sewer maintainer and promoted Austin Hartsell to a heavier DPW position.

During the personnel discussion a member asked whether hires would automatically join a union; the chair said no paperwork or contract was in place and that union membership is voluntary for employees. Other routine purchases and contingency language for equipment procurement (a replacement lawnmower deck) were also approved alongside the hires.
