The Forest Hills Board of Education on Dec. 16, 2024 voted 7-0 to join a nationwide social-media lawsuit (Case No. 22-MD-3047-YGR) that seeks monetary damages and injunctive relief for harms to minors. The board authorized the superintendent or designee to sign an attached attorney-client fee contract with Frantz Law Group, APLC and take other actions necessary to pursue claims on the district's behalf.
The adopted resolution states that Frantz Law Group will represent the district in the federal multidistrict litigation; the contract specifies a contingent fee of 25% of any monetary settlement or recovery payable only from money recovered from defendants. The resolution and contract also describe a referral arrangement in which Thrun, Maatsch & Nordberg, P.C. (d/b/a Thrun Law Firm, P.C.) may receive 25% or, in certain referral circumstances, 35% of the total contingency fee. The board recorded its approval as a unanimous vote (Ayes: Michaud, Ninemeier, DeBoer, Vonck, Covelle, Terryn, Fauson).
