Lorain County commissioners on June 16 approved a $47,955 increase to the Fechko Excavating contract for the Janell Drive Sanitary Sewer Extension in Columbia Township, raising the project total to $777,586.
Sanitary staff said trench closures during construction revealed the need for additional pavement repairs and storm sewer replacement. The original contract, awarded Aug. 15, 2025, had been for $729,631; the board adopted Resolution No. 26‑354 to authorize the increase. Commissioner Jeff Riddell moved the resolution and Commissioner David J. Moore seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The resolution notes construction is nearing completion and the department is finalizing quantities and change orders. No additional schedule or funding source change beyond the approved increase was announced at the meeting.
