Tax Commission approves county requests to extend BOE appeal deadlines

The Utah State Tax Commission on Oct. 23, 2025 approved written requests from the Salt Lake, Carbon and Davis County Boards of Equalization to extend the statutory time period to decide certain appeals. Commissioner John T. Deeds moved to approve the requests; Commissioner Rebecca L. Rockwell took a roll-call vote and the motion passed unanimously.
The counties said they could not meet the 60-day decision period following receipt of an appeal because of a high volume of 2025 appeals. The Commission approved the extensions as listed on the agenda: Salt Lake County to March 31, 2026; Carbon County to Dec. 15, 2025; and Davis County to Dec. 31, 2025.
