Engineering to handle floodplain sign-offs; city previews new live permit webpage

Angie Hammers asked whether floodplain review is concurrent with other permits and Nicole Coleman clarified that Poulsbo's floodplain certificate (FEMA) is typically the last sign-off in the process and not a standalone, separate critical-area permit. "There is a flood plain flood plain certificate that is required through FEMA," Coleman said, adding that the floodplain manager usually signs off after building permits and other approvals are in place.
In the director’s report, staff previewed a new active land-use permit webpage that will link SmartGov permit records to GIS site plans so the public can see whether a wetland or other critical-area feature is present on a parcel. The engineering-managed floodplain process and the new online permit tools are intended to improve transparency and reduce permit confusion for applicants.
