Chair Hansen was re-elected chair of the Albany Area Schools Board of Education for 2026 during the district's Jan. 7 reorganization meeting. "Sands nominated Hansen as Chair for 2026," the transcript records; the nomination and subsequent officer elections were recorded as carried by unanimous vote.
The board also approved a revised remuneration schedule. "Payment for all meetings (Regular, Special, Committee) $75.00 per meeting. Change the full day to $150.00," the motion text states. The item set Chair pay at $350, Clerk at $300 and Treasurer at $200; workshop and half-day pay was set at $75 and full-day pay at $150 (previously $125). The motion to adopt the compensation package was made by Member Rueter, seconded by Member Dirkes, and recorded as approved by all present.
The changes take effect for 2026 board service and were passed as part of the organization's reauthorization items at the start of the meeting. The board also set meeting dates for the year and scheduled a community informational budget meeting for Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
