Aaron Trainor of the Grand County Sheriff's Office asked the board to approve Amendment No. 3 to the IGA with Northern Water Conservation District so the sheriff's office can continue facility checks and, if necessary, post a deputy during national-security events. Trainor said the arrangement has existed for several years and is used primarily during nighttime hours when Northern Water staffing is limited. "It basically allows them to pay the sheriff's office $60,000 a year to provide security services to some of their facilities," Trainor said.
Commissioners discussed that Northern Water previously contracted with the Bureau of Reclamation and confirmed the amendment preserves existing arrangements. A motion was made and the board approved the amendment by voice vote.
