Council adopts Engineer’s Report and sets June 9 hearing for Foxley Drive lighting assessment

After staff answered questions about the lighting district petition and assessment process, the City Council approved the Engineer’s Report for Street Lighting Assessment District No. 01‑91 (Foxley Drive) for Fiscal Year 2026–27. Mayor Pro Tem Mary Ann Pacheco moved and Council Member Vicky Santana seconded the motion to adopt Resolution No. 2026‑21 declaring the district’s intention to levy and collect the FY 2026–2027 assessment and setting a public hearing for June 9, 2026; the motion carried unanimously.
Deputy City Manager Kyle Cason responded to council questions about the petition signature requirements, differences between levied and assessed amounts, and negative fund balances. The public hearing on June 9 will give residents an opportunity to comment on the proposed assessment prior to any levy.
