Oyster Park railing upgrade underway to extend pier life, staff says

Jeff Osmack, Parks & Rec Director, updated the commission on Oyster Park pier improvements, saying Public Works removed deteriorated railings and installed new galvanized supports designed to extend the pier's life to about 50 years. "The intent for... funding for these improvements is to extend the life of the pier to 50 years," Osmack said, adding that ipe wood will be placed on top of the new railings and that several ledger supports must be installed to secure the railings.
Osmack told commissioners that railings were expected to be finished soon and praised Public Works for the work. Commissioners responded positively to the design and noted that the new materials and mounting approach address earlier installation problems.
