Hearing Examiner Gary McLean opened the public hearing on the Olympic Overlook preliminary subdivision application and received staff and applicant presentations followed by neighborhood testimony. Assistant City Planner Ashley Weller told the examiner that "Olympic Overlook is a plat that is proposing 22 single family homes," and that staff issued its report on Nov. 26, 2024 and recommended approval subject to conditions. Counsel for the applicant, Matthew Sweeney, said the applicant agrees with the staff report and SEPA determination and supports approval with the recommended conditions.
Several nearby residents raised concerns about construction impacts, traffic routing and tree removal. Engineering representative Michael Bateman confirmed engineering and public-works review found utilities and stormwater compliant with city standards and noted staff amended Exhibit 15 to add a construction traffic-control plan requirement, renumbered as Condition E43. The hearing was closed and McLean asked the applicant to provide a short memo listing adjacent plats and approval/completion dates; he said he will take the record under advisement and issue a decision as soon as possible.
