Grand County Public Health highlights expanding WIC enrollment and senior services in 2024

Abby Baker, director of Grand County Public Health, delivered the department's 2024 annual report and a Home Care governance update. Key points: Grand County Home Care's 2023 revenue totaled roughly $45,000 with program expenses near $169,000; patient satisfaction surveys were strongly positive and staff adjusted supervision visits from 90 to 60 days to improve timeliness. Baker reported that the WIC program grew steadily and surpassed 200 active participants by the end of 2024 and that the department planned to maintain services while carefully managing staff capacity.
Public Health described senior-nutrition programs (restaurant vouchers and home-delivered meals), immunization clinics (more than 300 vaccinations in 2024), environmental-health inspections (restaurants, schools, water testing) and new behavioral-health tools (Credible Minds). Staff also described partnerships (e.g., WIC and Grow-to-Share local produce distribution) and said the department will prioritize reproductive health, behavioral-health screening and increasing culturally appropriate, Spanish-language services for 2025.
