Board renews Ranch Creek transfer-station special-use permit with fire-safety conditions

Zagun said staff recommended a five-year renewal (to April 28, 2030) with four conditions, including maintaining current permit conditions and addressing two Grand Fire comments within six months.
Grand Fire's concerns were described in the staff report: (1) a protocol to clear the tipping floor nightly or notify the fire district if excess solid waste accumulates, per applicable fire code, and (2) ensuring adequate pressurized fire flows on site — possible solutions include a cistern and coordination on location/access for suppression systems. Ranch Creek Waste representative Rob Sparks told commissioners the operator is already working to meet requirements and expects to meet the fire-district items within a month. Commissioners voted to renew the permit with the conditions described in staff’s recommendation.
