Wakefield board accepts resignation, hires new teacher and approves teacher evaluation tool

The Wakefield Community School Board unanimously accepted the resignation of Industrial Technology Instructor Daryl Harrison, effective Jan. 1, 2026, and approved the initial certified teaching contract for Jeremiah Chase, effective Dec. 15, 2025.
In the same meeting the Board approved a newly developed Teacher Evaluation Tool aligned to the district’s Model of Instruction. Board member Sherri Lundahl moved to approve the evaluation tool and to authorize administration to file it with the Nebraska Department of Education; Eric Riewer seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
The board also certified the Wakefield Education Association as the exclusive bargaining unit for certified teachers for the 2027–28 school year, a procedural step that activates the district’s duty to negotiate with the union. Additionally, the board approved the superintendent evaluation for the superintendent in his fifth year.
