The board heard that inspection of the new fire station could not proceed because the fire alarm system requires a phone connection and no suitable phone connection is yet installed. Board members and staff discussed options including installing a Starlink connection or running a copper line and noted that some current cloud-based phones (Emtek) are incompatible with the alarm's requirements.
Members also said they have ordered a generator but do not yet have the purchase cost for reimbursement paperwork. Finance and project staff were asked to confirm the generator cost, the alarm phone solution and necessary procurement steps so inspections and reimbursement requests can move forward.
