Rail-trail design pushed to fiscal 2027; estimate and 10% town match expected Aug. 21

The board heard an update on the rail-trail project: funds were moved from fiscal 2026 to 2027 after the earlier approval deadline was missed. Staff reported they were pursuing a move-back to FY26 so preliminary design can begin sooner and said a project cost estimate will be presented to the estimate board on Aug. 21, which could lock the town into a 10% match if approved.
Selectmen said they would continue follow-up with the project lead and recommended preparing requested reimbursement documentation. The board discussed parallel grant-track opportunities and the town's readiness to submit required paperwork so funding can be earmarked if federal or state releases are forthcoming.
