Business owner warns Harbour Hopper ferry could strain downtown parking

Alexa Alemanno, a Langley small-business owner, told the council the Harbour Hopper walk-on ferry between Everett and Langley will carry up to 45 passengers per sailing and run two round trips on Thursdays and Saturdays; she warned that, with limited late-night transit service, guests could occupy downtown street parking for long periods and asked the city to consider time limits or other measures on First Street.
“We cannot sacrifice what little street parking there currently is, especially not every Saturday of the summer,” Alemanno said, noting the Port of Everett’s booking page and FAQ direct guests to use Langley street parking. She asked whether the city could impose seasonal or limited-duration parking on First Street to maintain turnover for customers of downtown businesses. Council asked staff to continue monitoring harbor parking and communications with the Port and nearby jurisdictions.
