Barker board debates how much detail to include in claims audit reports; asks for front-page summary

At the April 13 Audit Committee meeting, members discussed the level of detail they want to receive in Claims Audit Reports from the district’s internal claims auditor. President R. Atwater and board member J. Sweeney, Jr. said they favored higher-level summaries unless a finding is material or indicates fraud. Several other board members said the Board needs sufficient detail to understand how district funds are used.
"She noted there is no fraud and nothing improper," T. Smith‑Dengler told the board when asked whether any improper activity had been detected. The board asked Smith‑Dengler to highlight important comments on the front page of future reports and left open the option to change the reporting format if needed.
