The board also approved two police appointments. The police chief described Joseph Barber as a candidate with more than 15 years’ corrections experience and EMT certification, and said Barber had served as a reserve officer in town. The chief praised Elizabeth Hernandez’s training and multilingual skills and said she is currently a full‑time officer at Northeastern University’s police department.
Board members welcomed the appointments and took roll‑call votes to confirm the hires.
