Resident warns of high speeds, crashes on Milas Street

Chuck Vinson told the Glen Heights City Council during public comment that speeding on Milas Street has become dangerous and asked the city to act. "The record is someone was driving 71 miles an hour," Vinson said, and reported that 48 vehicles exceeded the speed limit over a short monitoring period, four cars were hit (one collision knocked down a light pole) and a child on a bicycle was struck.
Vinson also called attention to heavy construction trucks using the street, saying as many as six 18-wheelers passed his home in a day and that one vehicle involved was a school bus traveling over the limit. He offered photos and asked that the materials be given to City Manager Cliff Blackwell for dissemination. Council members did not take immediate action but Vinson's remarks were the subject of discussion and were referred to staff for follow-up.
