Wayne Smith presented a proposed mowing contract for city‑maintained properties and explained that, due to changes in irrigation and expected reduced mowing, the agreement for the current season was revised to an as‑needed basis. Smith said the contractor would have the opportunity to return to a full contract in future years and that juvenile community‑service mowing programs are being coordinated with the Eighth District Court.
City Manager Quinn Bennion emphasized treating the contractor fairly and suggested offering two full contract years under normal conditions when appropriate. Councilmember Ed Long moved to approve the contract; Councilmember Nick Porter seconded. The motion passed unanimously by roll call, with Munford, Mills, O’Driscoll, Long and Porter recorded as voting aye.
