Superintendent reports staffing, calendar and community events ahead of Aug. 19 school start

At the Aug. 6 meeting, executive staff provided an overview of pre‑school preparations for the 2026–27 year. Mister Dubert (Speaker S6) said the executive team and departments focused on hiring, staff professional development, and preparing facilities; "the executive staff and directors today welcomed approximately 81 new teachers," he said.
Mister Dubert outlined the schedule for onboarding and training: new‑teacher orientation began the week of the meeting, classified and noninstructional staff were to begin another onboarding sequence on Monday, returning staff return dates were noted, bus driver training occurred July 27, and school nutrition staff return on Aug. 14. He announced an open house for families on Aug. 17 from 2 to 7 p.m. and that the first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 19.
The executive report named three new principals joining the division this fall: Doctor Scott Graham at Forest Middle School, Mister Joel DeCant at Bedford Elementary, and Mister Jacob Rivenbark at Liberty Middle School. Mister Dubert also encouraged families to attend a Pack the Bus supply drive at the Bedford Walmart on Aug. 7 from noon to 5 p.m.
On finance, Mister Dubert thanked the Board of Supervisors for support of an amended budget approved May 28 that included a 4% cost‑of‑living adjustment for full‑time faculty and staff. He closed by urging parents to engage in the upcoming redistricting process and to watch the Aug. 18 work session.
