Linebarger: 329 accounts turned over in 2024; firm collected $158,955 for Glenn Heights

Representatives from Linebarger, Goggin, Blair & Sampson LLP presented the city’s delinquent tax roll and municipal‑court fines and fees activity for the period ending Sept. 30, 2025.
"The tax year 2024 current turnover, we had 329 accounts that were turned over for that 12‑month period, totaling a delinquency amount of $122,254 in base delinquent taxes," said Karen Bishop, the firm’s client liaison for Glenn Heights. Bishop said the firm focuses collection activity on accounts that owe between $1,000 and $5,000 and that many of the larger accounts are protected by exemptions that bar collection.
Speronia Johnson, who leads the firm’s court collections team for the city, said municipal‑court work is referred after 60 days delinquent and that during the most recent fiscal year the firm collected a little over $38,000 and has collected nearly $350,000 for the city since the contract began. Linebarger representatives emphasized that the program is cost‑free to the city; collection costs are charged to delinquent taxpayers, not the city’s general fund.
Council members asked for follow‑up detail, including the total outstanding balance at the reporting date and clarification of how many unique defendants the account counts represent. Linebarger said staff would provide the outstanding‑balance figure on request.
