Commission accepts quitclaim deed offer for downtown Lot 18; orders title, engineering checks

Staff told the commission the owner of Lot 18 (the old Burphead building) indicated he would sign a quitclaim deed transferring the building to the city with no monetary consideration. "Mister Pavilenko, at this point, just wants to sign a quick claim deed to the city, and so there is no expectation of purchase agreement, no monetary funding going to NAN at this point," staff said.
Commissioners discussed the building's condition, potential foundation impacts to adjacent structures and the need for an engineer's determination before any demolition work. The commission adopted a motion to accept a quitclaim deed if executed by July 26 and instructed staff and the city attorney to confirm legal descriptions, title status, and obtain a structural engineer report before proceeding with any demolition work.
