Volunteer urges Board to appoint last season's musical director to preserve program momentum

Lauren Wedekind, a volunteer who has worked on costumes for the district’s Junior/Senior High School musicals, told the Board she has watched the program grow to 34 student participants and urged the Board to fill the High School Musical Director vacancy before the next school year.
Wedekind told trustees that the director needs time to coordinate Cornfest volunteers (a July fundraiser for the program) and to prepare a Wonder Awards application; she asked the Board to approve Katie Fisk for the post. The minutes record Wedekind’s request and her argument that the role supports students’ teamwork and confidence. The Board did not take formal action on her request during the meeting.
Board members and administrators discussed appointment procedures and timelines. Superintendent Dr. Reimer and others noted the district follows internal posting procedures before opening positions to external applicants in accordance with the BTU contract; trustees agreed to follow the established appointment process.
