Staff walked the commission through the timeline for applications, review in November, and forwarding a single recommendation to city council. The chair emphasized that council votes on the commission’s recommendation as a single package and cannot approve parts of it separately. After minor edits (consistent deadline time on the form, making the form fillable and ADA-compliant), the commission moved, seconded and approved the proposed timeline and the RFP advertisement language and distribution list by voice vote.
Commissioners also discussed not publishing an approximate available-funds amount in the ad to avoid inflating applicant requests, and they instructed staff to update contact names (for example, Powerhouse Theater) on the distribution list prior to posting.
