Jasper CCSD 17 board approves consent agenda, tentatively OKs tax levy and records series of routine motions

The Jasper CCSD 17 Board of Education approved its consent agenda at the Nov. 17, 2025 regular meeting, accepting prior meeting minutes, destruction of closed-session minutes, the treasurer’s report, and monthly bills and payroll. Nic Allison moved the consent agenda and Jarad Blanton seconded; the motion passed with six yes votes and one absent (Wesley Legg).
The board also tentatively approved the district tax levy "as presented" on a motion by Nic Allison seconded by Jarad Blanton; the minutes do not state the levy amount. During the session the board approved a contract for a 10-year HLS survey with "Baysingers," scheduled a Spring 2026 hunter safety course, authorized SIJHSAA athletics participation (baseball, softball, volleyball, girls’ and boys’ basketball, track, golf and cross country), discontinued junior high spelling beginning spring 2026, approved a catered staff Christmas lunch, appointed Jaxon King as assistant girls’ basketball coach and Joseph Rodgers as boys’ peewee and volunteer girls’ basketball coach, and changed the December meeting start time to 5 p.m. on Dec. 18.
The board moved into executive session at 7:13 p.m., citing school board policy 2:220-E2 and Illinois statutes 5 ILCS 120/2C(1), 5 ILCS 120/2C(2) and 5 ILCS 120/2(C)(9) (personnel, collective bargaining and student disciplinary matters). The board reconvened at 7:37 p.m., approved the executive session minutes as recorded, and adjourned at 7:46 p.m. All votes reported in these minutes show six yes votes and Wesley Legg recorded as absent.
