Board hears plan to market Claymont Intermediate building; auction timeline at least 60 days

The Claymont City School District board on May 11 heard from Superintendent Brian Rentsch about plans to market the Claymont Intermediate building for sale. Rentsch introduced Amy Myer of The Barnett Realtors and Bob Hall of Cronebaugh Auction as potential representatives and said the district must first offer the building to any community or chartered nonpublic school in the community; none exist in the district.
Rentsch said an auction timeline would be "at least 60 days" and expressed a preference to complete the sale before winter to reduce holding costs. The board did not take a final vote on sale terms at the meeting and directed administration to proceed with planning and the required statutory offer period.
