Canaan BOE enters executive session on attorney–client matter; receives February financial reports

At 6:10 p.m. the Canaan Board of Education unanimously voted to enter executive session to discuss an attorney–client privileged matter with board members present (Chair Patricia Mechare, Treasurer Emily Peterson, Members Maria Bulson and Scott Miller), Principal Andrew Deacon, and Superintendent Melony Brady-Shanley; Vice Chair Adam Sher had departed before the session began. The public recording and audio/video were paused for the executive session; the session ended at 6:49 p.m. Superintendent Brady-Shanley departed the meeting at 6:52 p.m.
Earlier in the meeting the board also received and agreed to receive the NBT Check Register covering 02.01.26–02.27.26 and the Cash Report for February 2026 on a motion by Maria Bulson, seconded by Scott Miller. The minutes record receipt of the financial reports but do not include line-item financial detail in the minutes themselves.
