The Town of Canaan Board of Selectmen moved into executive session at 8:08AM on March 11, 2026 to review and discuss the selection of a new Recreation Director. Selectman Judy Jacobs made the motion, which was seconded by First Selectman Dave Barger and adopted unanimously.
The three members of the Recreation Commission—membership present—Melissa Lopes (Chair), Chris Wadsworth and Catherine Wales—were invited into the Executive Session for the selection review and were excused at 8:44AM after the commission-related portion concluded. The minutes record that no formal action was taken on items discussed during the Executive Session.
The board did not record candidate names or selection outcomes in the public minutes. The topic will return to open-session consideration only if the board takes formal action in a subsequent public meeting.
