The district’s notes to the financial statements include detailed disclosures for pension and other postemployment benefits administered through the Public Employees’ Retirement Association of Colorado (PERA). For the December 31, 2024 measurement, the district’s proportionate share of the SDTF net pension liability is reported at $18,150,611; the total pension-related liability associated with the district is $19,780,824 when state support is included.
The district recognized pension expense of $2,620,487 for the year. The notes set out actuarial assumptions (discount rate 7.25%, salary inflation and payroll growth assumptions) and list deferred inflows and outflows associated with experience and rate changes. The Health Care Trust Fund disclosure shows the district’s proportionate share of the net OPEB liability at $322,043 and records the district contribution apportionment to the HCTF for the year at $84,581.
These disclosures are technical and include sensitivity analyses showing the pension and OPEB liabilities under discount rates one percentage point higher and lower than the assumed rate.
