Deputy Commissioner John Hall of the Department of General Services presented a proposed 10-year build-to-suit lease (with a five-year renewal option) that would combine the Department of Children's Services and the Department of Human Services into a single location totaling 12,155 square feet. Hall said the consolidation should reduce total leased space by approximately 7,000 square feet and that the new, build-to-suit facility is expected to open in July 2027. The subcommittee moved and approved the lease by voice vote.
The chair asked whether the building exists today; Hall confirmed it is a brand new "build to suit." When asked how long before the lease commences, Hall said, "We should expect to be open in July '27." Staff and commissioners asked no further substantive questions before the voice vote.
