Township Clerk June Proffitt reviewed the Clerk's budget and raised pay equity concerns during the Feb. 21 meeting. She said a recently hired employee is earning more than the Deputy Clerk, who has served five years, and asked the Committee to revisit the salary ordinance to create a more accurate pay scale. Proffitt requested a $25.00 hourly rate for the Deputy and said she has asked repeatedly for a salary‑scale review.
Proffitt also noted the Deputy's potential move to a full‑time schedule (8 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) sometime this year, though she said there are obstacles now. Chief VanNamee, speaking later in the meeting, confirmed the Deputy handles township vehicles effectively. Committee members Mr. Brown, Mrs. Martin and Mr. Martin indicated support for the requested $25.00 hourly rate. Proffitt said she may retire in the near future and wants the Deputy to begin taking classes to prepare for increased responsibility.
