Palumbo also said he had been certified for floodplain duties previously and asked to be paid if he resumes that responsibility. He asked the Committee to consider 6%–8% salary increases for staff and inspectors as a whole, saying "his people as a whole deserve to make more money" and noting external compliments to his office staff. The Committee asked clarifying questions and requested written details so officials can review the proposed salary changes before any vote.
