Palumbo said the office routinely receives outside compliments on staff performance and argued the office’s revenue stream should support staff pay and operations. "The money made by the Code Office should be used for the function of the Code Office and not into the current fund," he said. Committee members asked questions but made no immediate changes to the budget lines during the meeting.
The Committee also noted inspection‑fee revenue moving from $0 to $8,000 in one line because of a third‑party inspector arrangement and discussed other departmental increases such as higher postage in Housing to cover lead‑paint notices. Mayor Bomba and members asked follow‑up questions; the Committee agreed to review Palumbo’s written requests for specific salary changes before making adjustments.
