Resident Parker Nessen (S9) asked the council Oct. 7 for sidewalks on 200 West in the Nessen Hollow subdivision because there are no sidewalks on his block. Staff said there is escrow money available and proposed combining Nessen's frontage payment (about 222 feet) with existing escrow funds to build a sidewalk on the west side of 200 West.
"...there's no sidewalks in the area," Nessen said, describing a gap that would leave his planned house without pedestrian access. Council member S8 moved to accept cash‑in‑lieu from Nessen and apply the money to purchase a sidewalk across the street; S6 seconded the motion and the council voted to approve it.
The council noted sidewalks historically are installed on the west side of similar streets and that the approach would be consistent with established patterns in town. Staff will follow up with the resident to complete escrow and construction arrangements.
