Commissioners declare August Child Support Awareness Month; office to hand out ~75 backpacks Aug. 14

Michael Anderson, director of domestic relations, asked the board to proclaim August 2026 as Child Support Awareness Month and described outreach planned for Friday, Aug. 14, including a school-supplies drive that "we're going to reach our goal of having about 75 backpacks" to distribute during an outside event on Oak Street.
Anderson cited Pennsylvania and county-level child-support statistics in support of the proclamation, saying the state disbursed nearly $1.1 billion and that Lebanon County "disbursed nearly 15,400,000 to families and collected over 82% in current support due." Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the proclamation by voice vote and invited staff and program partners to a photo following the vote.
