Hull said three proposals were received for the advertised 10-year lease with a five-year renewal option, but two were withdrawn after the incumbent tenant decided to stay. He described expanded parking and safety zones to accompany the increased office space. During discussion members observed that estimated per-square-foot build costs differed across recent projects — "The previous 1 was $73.53 a square foot to build the new building and this one's $180 a square foot," the chair said — and asked whether landlords receive preliminary designs before proposing.
Hull said landlords are given space size and types but not a full design prior to proposal; the actual design comes later if the lease is approved. The subcommittee approved the lease by voice vote; the transcript records approval without a roll-call tally.
