With six applicants for four committee slots, the board agreed to form a two‑member ad hoc committee to review applications and bring recommended candidates back to the full board. Lois Kazakoff moved to form the ad hoc committee; the board appointed Linda Ordoneo Dixon and Lois Kazakoff to serve on it and directed staff to schedule a short special meeting once the ad hoc has made its recommendation.
Trustees emphasized the desire to include community representation on the selection committee — for example, members from education or the business community — but acknowledged the final composition will depend on the applicant pool. "We have been working so hard to make sure that the library is seen as a community resource and a hub of community activity. I think that needs to be reflected in the selection of the poet laureate," said Lois Kazakoff during discussion. The ad hoc committee will meet soon and the board authorized a special meeting notice (24‑hour notice sufficient) to confirm finalists and appointments.
