Staff roll out new circulation map and plan major adult‑fiction reclassification

"I personally have been really enjoying the circulation map," Jennifer said during the Sept. 9 meeting.
Jennifer said staff plan a major fall project to weed and reorganize the adult fiction collection — merging genres such as mystery, romance, sci‑fi and fantasy into a single A–Z shelving arrangement with genre stickers for wayfinding — with the goal of finishing by the end of the calendar year. She also noted an unexpectedly high turnover ratio in the nonfiction‑DVD collection and called it "weird"; staff will compare next year's report before drawing conclusions.
Trustees asked for clarification on the nonfiction‑DVD numbers and were told the collection is interfiled with books by subject, which may push people to select the visual (DVD) formats when they encounter the topic. The reclassification aims to reduce patron confusion and make items easier to find.
