City approves removal of large oak behind Doyle Street fire station after roof work completed

Public Works Director Mr. Smith told commissioners that two roofs are complete — Fire Station 10 and the Whitman Street Gym — and that Affordable Roofing recommended removing a large oak tree behind the Doyle Street fire station. "Affordable Roofing recommends removal of the large oak tree behind the Fire Station on Doyle Street," Mr. Smith said, and commissioners agreed to remove the tree.
City Manager Wheeler also said the Lake Toccoa pavilion will receive a new roof. The commission authorized staff to proceed with tree removal and ongoing roof maintenance planning; no formal vote was recorded in the work session minutes.
