Tiffany Bussard, who oversees English-learner supports, told the committee the district has been using the Elevation data platform for three years and is adding strategy modules to help teachers access instructional videos and quick tips.
"Elevation, this is our 3rd year using the platform," Bussard said, describing how the platform shows teachers language levels and provides strategies and videos that will support lesson planning. She also described translation and communication tools the district uses: LanguageLine for live interpretation, TalkingPoints for text translation, two ILA (instant language assistant) devices for in-person interpretation and a newly purchased Verbo AI tool funded through Title III to translate documents and provide dictation/read-aloud for families.
Administrators said ELD staffing includes two specialists at the high school and that many families prefer to work with student translators in some contexts; the district will continue to deploy a mix of human and technology resources to expand access and involvement for families who speak more than 60 languages in the district.
