Sesser-Valier board adopts tentative 2025 tax-levy resolution; final levy to be approved in December

On Oct. 14 the Sesser-Valier Board of Education adopted a Resolution Regarding Estimated Amounts Necessary to be Levied for the Year 2025. Trustee Dilliner moved the motion, Trustee Packer seconded it, and the roll call vote was six yeas and zero nays.
Superintendent J. Henry had earlier asked trustees to consider five guiding principles as they set the levy: that levy calculations rely on projected property values; that the levy funds the next fiscal year’s local revenue; that each year’s levy affects future levies; that the board must balance fiscal responsibility against excess; and that the board should understand the levy’s impact on the district’s property tax rate. Henry said he will present the final 2024 tax extension in November and the final 2025 tax levy for board approval in December 2025.
The minutes record no amendments to the tentative levy resolution at the meeting. The roll call in favor included Trustees Kelly, Kirk, Lance, Packer, Dilliner and President Garner.
