The Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District No. 196 Board of Education unanimously approved the consent agenda at its Aug. 11 regular meeting, accepting minutes, a treasurer's report and invoices.
The consent motion, made by Board Member Lance and seconded by Board Member Dilliner, included bills totaling $673,804.64 and salaries totaling $411,888.59. The board also approved a resolution certifying a transportation safety hazard for 2025–2026 and gave final approval to revised board policies that had been on first reading in July.
Superintendent J. Henry told the board the tentative initial budget for Fiscal Year 2026 would be displayed and a public budget hearing was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15, 2025 at 5:55 PM. The motion carried on a roll-call vote of seven yeas and zero nays.
The meeting record shows no public comment on the budget during open session. The consent agenda vote concludes the board's routine business for the month and sets the formal budget process in motion.
