The Franklin Township Environmental Commission reviewed ZV2604 (Block 4601, Lot 14461 Hardy Highway) on July 18 and concluded the proposal to add a truck scale and a one-story commercial building at an existing gas station does not raise apparent environmental concerns for the commission.
Commissioners examined the site plan and elevations, discussed possible wetlands and parcel boundary questions between Franklin and the adjacent town, and noted much of the project falls within planning-board purview. 'This is planning board, not environmental. It's something that's not in our purview here,' one commissioner said. At the end of the discussion, a commissioner moved that the commission record a 'No problem' comment; other commissioners agreed and the item was characterized as not posing environmental impediments on the face of the submitted materials.
Commissioners also discussed driveway location, scale placement relative to existing entrances and the need for any planning-board site-plan approval. The commission did not record a formal vote count for the 'No problem' comment on the transcript; the disposition was documented as the commission's comment to be included in the planning record.
