Longmont council approves continued PEG contract with LPM with small changes

Staff said the recommendation would allow renegotiation of cost and adjustments for inflation if a four-year extension is pursued.
Council member Moor Singh asked about the contract's line-item breakdown and whether the listed production items (for example, short social clips) reflected staff time or discrete production costs. Sergio Angelus, executive director of LPM, said the RFP process required budget allocation and that much of the work is staff time; he acknowledged LPM uses AI tools in its workflow and said the organization reviews automated summaries prior to publishing.
"We do use AI quite a bit internally for a variety of different things from script production to editing," Sergio Angelus said, describing AI as one tool LPM uses to shorten long council recordings into "too long; didn't watch" summaries that are reviewed by staff before release.
Council asked for details on annual cost adjustments and assurances about drone work and extra-hours pricing; staff said they would complete those negotiations and return a finalized contract and related Carnegie Building lease for council approval. The motion to continue the contract with small changes carried unanimously.
