Mayor Hanako Fering moved that staff schedule a joint meeting between the Longmont City Council and the St. Vrain Valley Board of Education; Mayor Pro Tem McCoy seconded and council approved the motion unanimously.
Assistant City Manager Sandy Cedar described the mechanics: the inviting party usually sets the initial agenda and staff will send council an email a few weeks before the joint meeting asking members for topics they wish to include. "In the past, it kinda depends who's inviting," Cedar said. "A couple of weeks before the meeting, you'll get an email from me asking for agenda items."
Council members asked about the agenda content and whether the city or the school board would take the lead; staff said the city will invite the district in this case and then coordinate with the board on any additions. Staff will return scheduling details and any proposed agenda to council once confirmed.
