Council approves code change making property owners responsible for sewer pump-outs

Council members Charlie Shutt, Joe Cornell, Josephine Prophet and Will Butler voted AYE; Debbie Lockhart and John Gray voted NAY. The amendment changes the billing responsibility for sewer pump-outs from the city to private property owners, as laid out in the ordinance language discussed at the meeting.
The motion originated during Old Business item 6.A. No new fee schedule was adopted at the meeting; the council action amended the code language assigning responsibility. The change will take effect according to the timeline required by the city code and any required publication procedures.
