Southgate council OKs historical signage at Veterans Memorial Park shelter

Jason Lanham of 149 Bonnie Lynn Terrace presented a proposal from the St. Therese Centennial Committee to place a historical marker and top-mounted signage on the former trolley shelter at Veterans Memorial Park, originally named the "Shrine of the Little Flower." The council moved to approve the request and the motion passed unanimously (Motion/Second: Curry/Whitehead; Aye 6 Nay 0).
Supporters said the marker would provide historical context at a neighborhood landmark and the council did not attach conditions to the approval. The decision came during the public-comment portion of the July 15 meeting of the City of Southgate City Council; the project will proceed under the committees direction and with any standard permitting required by city staff.
