Darren Sanders, the county engineer, summarized the proposed funding structure: "We we charge the, suburban municipalities 25¢ per resident and then per year. And then Shelby County and the city Of Memphis have a flat rate of 50,000 each that we we participate." Sanders said the facility opened in 2007, operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, accepts motor fluids (oils and antifreeze), household products (cooking oils and propane tanks) and herbicides, and is free to residents.
The measure was moved and seconded in committee and the committee recorded aye votes and will send the item to the full commission on Monday with a favorable recommendation.
